Steve has worked at the Nebraska Department of Revenue since 1984 (26 years). He has gained tremendous tax knowledge in his tenure there having worked in many divisions and positions in the Omaha office. His experience in the Compliance area has spanned many subjects:  Charitable Gaming Bingo and pickle card inspection; income and sales tax collection; and training fellow employees on business collection processes.

 

Steve currently uses this wealth of tax knowledge in the Communications section of the Policy division to educate taxpayers in all tax categories in order to facilitate maximum voluntary compliance. Steve is readily available to answer tax questions and present customized small group presentations upon request. In the office, he assists in developing presentation materials and writing information guides in “plain English” so all taxpayers have the opportunity to understand even the most complex tax regulations.

 

Steve also volunteers his time and talents with the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program and tax preparation for nonresident alien students in the Omaha area.
